I'm quite awful at updating. I think that's why I love microblogging so much, I can say as little as I want and not worry if I've written enough. As a result I spend most of my time on Twitter and Tumblr. I'm also rather shy and a lurker, I never know if I get my point across very well, I always feel like I don't have the right words to express my thoughts on whatever subject matter I'm interested in.

It's not  a fun feeling. Always doubting yourself can be damn tiring. I'm a writer but on the spot, fly by the seat of your pants writing is something that freaks the crap out of me.

So I read a lot and live in hope that one day I can express my thoughts in neat little posts that everyone can get something from. It's a working thing, always learning. At least I'm enjoying that bit.

Sorry I haven't updated for a bit, I've been very busy doing a lot of things, both online and in real life. But I have had time to bookmark some amazing photo articles and I thought that I'd post a round up of the best.

20th anniversary of NASA's Hubble - To celebrate the Hubble Space Telescope's two decades in orbit, we've compiled 20 of our favorite Hubble photos in this collection.
15 Amazing Pavillions from Shanghai Expo 2010 - Expo 2010 is a worldwide event that is currently taking place  in Shanghai, China and started May 1st.
50 Most Extraordinary Churches of the World
Portraits from Morocco
The Big Picture: Disaster unfolds slowly in the Gulf of Mexico - In the three weeks since the April 20th explosion and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, and the start of the subsequent massive (and ongoing) oil leak, many attempts have been made to contain and control the scale of the environmental disaster.
Rosalind Solomon’s Singular Journey - Rosalind Solomon may be one of the most interesting photographers you’ve never heard of. Hers is a bold, humanistic and highly personal view of the world, deftly executed in square format using black-and-white film.
The Wallstreet Journal - Pictures of the Week: May 3 - May 6
U.S. Marines in Afghanistan - Agence France-Presse photographer, Mauricio Lima, has been in Afghanistan for the last several months covering the war. Here is a look at some of his images from March and April.

Just posting some links that I've found while sorting my bookmarks and thought that everyone else might find them a good read.

Top of the list is Coyote Con, which is a 31 Day Digital Author Conference starting in May and best of all it's free. I've already signed up.
Geena Davis’ new study on gender bias in kids’ media - This post makes me crazy happy, because God knows there should be a hell of a lot more girls on TV who are just as cool as the boys. Also, how cool is Geena Davis?
Truckers Pick Up Quilting and Knitting - This whole article is just really lovely but also bittersweet.
Tough Girls On Film Bound By Gender Roles - Proving once again that times haven't changed one bit when it comes to women and how they are written in films. And I know from reading a boatload of meta that it's the same in most Romance novels as well.
ACTA: making a crime out of copyright infringementThe Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) is an international treaty under negotiation that will have far-reaching ramifications for how millions of internet users share copyrighted material online.

As today is my birthday, I feel that it's a perfect date to start posting in this journal.

So, tiny bio. I go by Anya when online, I'm 26-years-old and I live in London, United Kingdom. I'm a daydreaming bookworm, who worries a lot, likes gen stories above all other stories and hopes to write a really good novel one day.

I have a cat named Buffy whom I worship. I prefer being alone than in a crowd, I like going for long walks and a library/bookshop is my church. Not much to go on but I hope that once I start posting, you'll have a good chance of getting to know me better.

Feel free to comment and tell me about yourself.

My last entry was written while high on green tea smoothie, yes, you read that right. It went right to my brain and it was kind of fun. I'm back to normal now. Well as normal as I can be.

Laura asked me what's in a green tea smoothie, so here is the recipe;

Green Tea and Berry Smoothie

Half a litre of orange juice
1 banana
300 grams of frozen mixed berries
200 ML of vanilla yogurt
400 ML of green tea, cooled

Mix together in a blender till smooth.

It's very nice, great for summer. Let me know if any of you try it and like it.

I've finished reading Guards! Guards! and I also read Good Omens in 24 hours, messing up my clock even more. I enjoyed both, and plan on posting about my thoughts on the books. Right, I'm going to have a bath in a moment, so I leave you with a meme I found.

Assemble a super team from your favorite films, TV shows, books etc. Your team must consist of the following: Team Leader, Warrior, Smartypants, Hottie, Comic Relief. You may not use more than one character from each source.

Team Leader: Sir Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing (Hellsing)
Warrior: Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach)
Smartypants: Dr. Greg House (House)
Hottie: Radu Barvon (Trinity Blood)
Comic Relief: Tamaki Suou (Ouran High School Host Club)

That is just made up of crack, oh my God so much crack! And now, my reasons for those characters. Intergral would take no bullshit from any of them on the team, she's good at being a leader. Ichigo is damn hard to beat, he just doesn't give up, always fighting. House is a snarky, clever son of a bitch who could put down anyone, also he might cause most of the battles the team will end up fighting. Radu, lol, I'm sorry, someone from Trinity Blood had to be in the team and Radu, is hot, even when covered in blood and dirt. Tamaki always made me laugh my eyes out in the anime, he's perfect comic relief.

My Heart Opens to Your Voice
By Madame Parker
Rated: G
Summary: After many months of marriage, Hisana finds her heart has at last accepeted Byakuya. {General/Romance}
Author's Note: It's 2 months late but I've at last written the Byakuya/Hisana story I set out to write. This was written last night, both characters walked into my head and acted out this scene, of course they only made it easy for me if I played on repeat this song, it's from the opera Samson et Dalila, the title of the story comes from the song, it's fitting I think, download it and let me know. This fic is for [personal profile] scrie, who has been badly stressed out the last few weeks, she loves Byakuya/Hisana and I only hope that this fic lives up to everything she loves about them. I welcome any thoughts/reviews you might have. Now read on.
